Anne, I know you use FileMaker. Did you know that you can do your roster entirely in FileMaker? Add the pictures into container fields and create a layout using list view.
Then either: 1. send it directly to PDF using the Save Records as PDF, or 2. print it, and in the Print dialog box use OS X's send to pdf features. Dan's old Mr. Super High Quality (just look at his amazing magazine) but you really don't need to be there. Your needs are a lot more modest and any copy/print shop that's worth its salt can take your pdfs and turn it into a work of art. Call me if you need help with that.
