How do you know the signal strength is less? You can’t  judge by the number of 
bars because Apple has changed the algorithm for the number of bars displayed 
at a given signal strength several times. You can tell by holding down option 
as you click on the Airport icon in the menu bar and looking at the RSSI and 
transmit rate. (I'm not sure that feature was there in 4.11.)
