Just get anything with an Apple logo on it. ::-)

iPad Minis are nice if your eyesight is good. The iPad air is very lightweight,
fast, easy on the eyes and goes a long time on a charge.

That said, the almost-as-good iPad "4" [Apple calls it the iPad with Retina
Display] is cheaper and has just become the entry-level full-size iPad,
replacing the long-in-the-tooth iPad 2 for that position.

That's the one I'd go for if I was buying today. No low-end models of that one
on Apple's Deals site right now, but there are some great deals on just about
everything else, including nice cheap 2s and 3s and the original Minis. I'd
look there and see what you can find in your price-range.

You HAVE to get an Apple, because the plethora of also-rans do not have the
seamless integration with your other Apple stuff and they are a whole 'nother
world as far as ease-of-use, quality and reliability.

Good luck!
