Hello John,  
Bypassing the hub was one of the first things I did to begin 
eliminating the possibles for this problem.  Of the drives 
that were operating before I could shut down the system, 
those are the ones I see this problem with.  Bypassing the 
hub gives the same failure as with the hub.  The hub is a 
400 speed Belkin with 6 FW jacks and also a aux. power 
input.  I have never had the hub in use with the aux. power, 
nor needed to use with before.
