John,

I found one good (previously unused) FW cable, and have
seen no differences. The FW connections that failed do still
fail, whereas the USB hookups are fine… …so the drives
themselves seem unaffected.

I have a mid-2010 Mac mini, with a FW 800 input port for
which I'm using a FW 400 adaptor. The FW hub (400) goes
into this adaptor, and any of the working drive’s FW port
connections that now go into the adaptor will still work.
The drives that were powered on at the time of the spike(s)
won’t function through those drive’s FW ports, so for now,
I’ll assume those FW circuits are what got fried.

Can these circuits/ports be repaired at a reasonably low cost?
…or would the problem go further in and be on the primary
circuit (mother) board? <!! eGad !!>
