Thanks Lee, I join in the chorus of praises to you.  I shall proceed to 
download whatever this software needs, and yes, I have used both NeoOffice and 
LibreOffice.  I try them again.

I don’t think you should let your browser promiscuously run Java applets, but 
there’s no problem with Java for something like Open Office. Have you looked at 
NeoOffice and LibreOffice? These are forks of Open Office that some people find 
to be more “Mac-like.” In all these suites, you’ll need to install Java to use 
the database features.

You can have all three installed at once to try them out. They all use the same 
file formats, so when you decide on one, all your work is still there.
