Thoughts:

1. Yeah, TWC steps up to the plate and AT&T sues. Says a lot about their
respective leadership.

2. To be fair, TimeWarner WILL raise their rates; just not right away. Until
Google gets here, who else are you going to go to for a serious internet
connection? AT&T has no technology to compete. Their Uverse is just glorified
DSL. I don’t think they can do it as easy as TWC can.

3. It’s not going to be all rainbows and unicorns with TWC, though. They
haven’t the infrastructure to give EVERYone the higher speeds all the time.
Your speeds will suffer even more in the evening after the switch. It still has
the potential to be way better than it is, but they always say “up to” when
they talk about their speeds, and it is common knowledge that it is shared
bandwidth in your neighborhood. Lots of heavy downloaders, “cable-cutters” who
will get their TV from streaming sites, and greater market share will really
put a strain on TWC’s infrastructure. Unless they have been planning this for a
long time (it seems like a reaction to Google, though) there are going to be
some bumps in the road until it’s a reliable service.

Just my $.02.
