Short version of a long story. Had a MacBook Air for sale and sold it to a thief in Toledo. The PayPal letter looked good to me, but was a forgery. Tracked him down. Persecuted errr, Prosecuted him and got conviction for receiving stolen property. Went with police to pawn shop he sold it to and got it back but had to pay $275, which the convict is supposed to pay us back by July 1st.
So I am ready to sell the computer again. Get it out of the box, charge it up and it comes right up. NO PASSWORD NEEDED. I notice that the date and time are incorrect, and go to Preferences, date & time, and I need to click on the lock. RUT RHO… that convict had put his name and a password in so I can NOT change the settings for date and time. I really would prefer to once again take it back to factory specs with updated Mac OS X latest version. When I was ready to sell it the first time I took it to genius desk and they did it for me. Is that something I can do or do I need to go back to the apple store? Thanks for help. Richard D.
