If you have an external disk drive and any version of Apple OS CD, install the disk and hold down the “C” key until it boots from the disk, Once booted click on the “Utility” icon. When opened click on erase disk…you don’t have to install a new OS since you don’t want to have any of your info on the drive….tell the next owner that it’s ready to be set up to their specifications.
If you have a thumb drive with an OS you can do the same. I have an external drive that I keep a bootable OS on just to format disk on the machine I am working on..so that is another choice….I’ve used this to install several new drives.
