Anne, The letter said the change to private hands was done in May but I doubt a lot could be accomplished by September, I mean they have sold everything, buildings, land, inventory, it seemed like all their assets…..I imagine they had creditor’s they couldn’t pay so they had no choice….
To say which place Terry likes best is like asking a child with a dish full of M&M’s which one they like best….. Upon arriving we make reservations for eating at one of the Tavern’s every night for the entire stay…She loves Shields Tavern, Cristiana Campbells, Royal Arms, Celebrations, Williamsburg Marketplace…which was in the process of moving the last time we were there and now I know why. We love the Peanut shop and bring goodies from there back to the family. We always go to Jamestown and visit the Museum and settlement….. I for one go to the William & Marry Bookstore which is off campus on the edge of Old Williamsburg. I go upstairs and hang out with the tons of college kids, I can walk all the stores just so many times and after my first go through I’ll see her off after breakfast and then she’ll come back for lunch and then head out again….An interesting observation, when we first started going, years ago, the college kids all had PC’s, now the room is FULL of Mac’s, there won’t be one PC in every hundred Mac’s….an amazing change. The Williamsburg Lodge is wonderful, one year we left the family during Thanksgiving just so we could go to the lodge and have a Williamsburg Thanksgiving meal, very delightful, very fancy with Piano and Harp, servers dressed in the finest….the meal was to die for….. Hopefully little will change but it must or the new owners will also be shedding millions a year so who knows what is going to happen. Enjoy your trip and ask around how they see things changing…let us/me know when you return.
