NetGear usually has pretty quick updates for the R8000.

I run the DD-WRT open source firmware on mine instead of the NetGear sanctioned 
stuff. It is upgraded almost immediately when a problem is found.  I used to 
run the open source Tomato firmware and they’re just a quick.
