Am I dreaming or is High Sierra MUCH faster than Sierra? I’ve had to want for an investment firm I use to get their software updated for High Sierra, which they finally did on Friday, so I’ve move to H. Sierra today.
Instantly I seemed to think EVERYTHING was MUCH quicker, for instance. The new Fortune came today, I cut the binder off and scan for a digital copy…(I yell at them often about their being a poor corporate citizen by not offering a PDF of their publication as it would save tons of trees, ink, labor, transportation, postage, and loading our landfills) but they pay little attention…most all firms have moved to the PDF files but Fortune and Forbes have not…must be a strong contract they live with. I digress… When the magazine is scanned into Adobe Acrobat I parse it to take out all the advertising, the small thumbnails “reload” once one is deleted, under Sierra and previous OS’s there was always a “lag” before the new thumbnails would redraw, now they are instantly calibrated with the new page numbers, there is no hesitation. Safari seems much quicker, I had several Audio Books I had downloaded and they were still in the download folder, I move them to another drive for safekeeping then delete them from downloads…these files were moving much faster, much. Mail loads quicker, everything I’ve tried so far is greatly increased and this is on a 2011 MacPro, not a new machine by any means… It could be my age, it could be Apple has greatly improved it’s operating system….. Since this Mac does not have a SSD it did not get Apple’s new file format…but I’m well pleased and would highly recommend the upgrade if you haven’t yet taken the plunge.
