After install attempts using five variations, I’ve tried one that has gone
around the fact that the links I tried did not allow an overwrite of the ACTIVE
system.

I then restarted using my backup system disk (external independent start-up HD).

Using a saved d/l of a specific link for updating over an existing Mac OS X
ver. 10.13.2, I updated the main/primary system HD when NOT active. This
worked.

Can anyone explain why?

Pls & thx,
-russ preston
