There are many different things you can do, but I’ll tell you what I’ve been
doing for the last few years. I have two networks at home: a visitor network
and a home network. The home network has IP numbers in the range 192.168.0.xxx
and the visitor network has numbers in the range 10.0.0.yyy. I put all my
“internet of things” stuff on the visitor network and all my servers and
computers on the home network. I also tell visitors to connect to the visitor
network. This way my private stuff is isolated from the devices over which I
have less control.

I started doing this some years ago when my son was having friends over to play
video games. They all connected to the visitor network.

Many of the better routers will let you set up dual networks, or you can do it
with three cheap routers in a Y configuration. There are lots of Web pages with
instructions for doing it with multiple routers.
