I used this for years and loved it: Elgato EyeTV Hybrid TV Tuner for Mac Then I cut cable and never got around to installing the antenna in my attic. I use Hulu and Netflix, but don't watch that much TV anymore, other than documentaries and a few movies. I get my news thru apps and subscriptions on my iPad (Apple News, NYT, CJ) so I don't really miss the local programming anymore. TV is mostly a vast wasteland IMO.
Still, if I add an antenna, I would gladly go back to EyeTV. You can record and save programs, and there was an annual "schedule" you could purchase for $19 I think. Then you go thru and select the shows you want to record one-time or continuously. You can screen for recording genre, by actor name, show name, etc. Also can screen out re-runs. All recorded to my Macmini and I routinely backed the programming I wanted to keep onto an external HD.
