I started moving away from single-taskers when I got the MacBook Pro a couple of years ago. It only has USB-C ports and I wanted to avoid a tangle of dongles in order to adapt to older plug types—especially in my travel kit. Right now it has only one dongle that can handle nearly anything. I also have a multi-taster permanently on my desk at home so I only have one plug to insert in order to hook up my charger, external monitor and headphones. This avoids a tangle of wires on my desk because I have the dongle on a one-meter extension cable so I can hide it and its wires.
