The idea. Mesa 7i76e card and a media box pc like this: Sizet-Smart-Android-Marshmallow-Amlogic <https://www.amazon.ca/Sizet-Smart-Android-Marshmallow-Amlogic/dp/B01MY8CLMP/ref=sr_1_26?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490490754&sr=1-26&keywords=tv+box> I've tried searching and I haven't found anybody who has done this yet and was wondering: 1. Does it seem reasonable? Is there something obvious I've missed here? 2. how hard is it going to be to make it work if I try? Am I destined to roll my own build and work out all sorts of incompatibilities?
Its appealing to me as there are dozens of these arm based android tv boxes available for under $50, with RJ45 ethernet port, usb ports, SD card slots, HDMI out etc. They seem like the nearly perfect pairing for the Mesa 7i76e card to control a cnc machine (in my case a 2 axis lathe with tool changer). >From the digging I've done the Mesa card isn't quite plug and play supported yet but I think I can figure it out. I'm worried about the media player box - if I need to build my own version of Linux and Machine kit then its likely I won;t go that path as I'm not familiar enough with linux at this time to do that, I want to get up and running sooner rather than later. I have a 7i76e on order and for the short term I'm going to run off a standard PC, but I'm attracted to a small media box device as it will be so much nicer to integrate into the back of the machine. I'm willing to part with $50, but weeks of my free time on evenings and weekends is far to precious to spend hacking this up. Comments and suggestions appreciated. -- website: http://www.machinekit.io blog: http://blog.machinekit.io github: https://github.com/machinekit --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Machinekit" group.
