Thanks Brad, I just spotted the messages on Gitter too :-) I'm confused as to why EMCApplication is the preferred front end rather than Machinekit-CNC but hey ho.
I'm planning to start with a fresh Debian install (probably Buster) and it then it seems I need to install Machinekit-HAL followed by EMCApplication. Are you running on BBB too? I'm starting to wonder whether I should just stick with my ancient version of Machinekit which just works...
