One thing to keep in mind is that HTML 4.01 validation only means that
the HTML used in the document is valid...same as a compiler not
producing any errors when compiling code. It doesn't mean that the code
will work properly, just that it is well formatted.
This page does not validate anyway...not even as HTML 4.01 Transitional:

Subject: HTML 4.01 validation with Mac IE 5 (OS 9)
Check out this page:
http://www.postnuke.com
You will notice excessive blank space on the right of the sidebars on
either
side of the central content block. The code on this page validates for
HTML
4.01 just fine, and looks okay (smaller sidebars on either side) on
almost
all other browsers.
a) what is the HTML compatibility of IE 5.0?
b) what workaround could be applied to fix these fat sidebars?
c) is this list still alive?
Harry
