The open FONT tags result in extra dummy tags being generated internally
to compensate for the invalid tree -- both a fake close tag where
needed, then a fake open tag. If you are familiar with storing computer
data in a tree, I'm sure you understand how, without proper closure of
tags, the tree is messed up, and the integrity of the tree's heirarchy
is compromised. That's particularly bad when attributes and styles are
often heirarchical in their application.

Okay, the several non-validated instances are the open FONT tags, and
the
BLIN (ack!) tag - those are part of central messages, and don't cause
the
large sidebars - your points about validation vs. working are
well-taken,
though and we'll re-examine for valid functionality.
