Hmmm... now you're getting a little bit beyond my knowledge. I'm
not a plug-in expert, but from talking with my team-mates I firmly
believe that there are no plans to drop NP_API (although I could of
course be out of the loop, so no actual guarantees are expressed or
implied by this statement, blah blah blah). I'm also told that
Netscape has never said anything to contradict that, unlike some
other companies. Netscape may be encouraging use of newer
architectures, but that's hardly surprising. New architectures and
technologies always get the press. When was the last time anyone
pushed authors to take advantage of their killer HTML 3.2 support?
As for OSX work, I'm not very familiar with it-- still running
OS9.1 myself. You may have read about what Netscape is planning for
its browser, but unless you were looking at company-internal
documents you should probably accord such claims the same weight
you'd have the public accord some of the claims made about Microsoft,
or about IE5 before its release for that matter.
I also notice that I inadvertently used my default signature file
in my last message, so I'll correct that here in the interests of
full disclosure and the whole nine yards. (Kindly pardon the sort-of
ad for Netscape 6.1 on an IE5 list, if you would; I'll go back to my
usual signature file after this.)
