I believe there are two issues - while Netscape 6 obviously still supports
legacy plugins, what the MBU guys from MS are referring to is OS X browser
support. As best as I understand, with the exception of the Fizzilla
porject, there really isn't any Netscape product for OS X - and as such,
since the existing plugin standard would not work under OS X, there is also
no plugin support from Netscape for OS X browsers - a platform that
Netscape, again, has missed the boat (I believe).
Unless you know something I don't, it appears that MS' much decried action
of forcing their architecture onto Windows users with their 'service pack',
is simply an indication of things to come on the OS X side.
Granted, OS X remains more or less useless (albeit 10.1 shows promise, so I
hear, for future versions), it will not be so forever - and it seems that
whatever plugin architecture will prevail on OSX will not be Netscape's.
This is sad, but just as everything that has befallen Netscape, no fault of
anyone else but Netscape.
Harry <-- former Netscape fan.
