We have one tech for 650 winduhz computers. 25% of
them are down all the time. He doesn't have time to
work on them. The teacher says he plays games on his
computer all day long and then installs new computers
when they come in.

We have teachers who have never been on the Internet.
The tech doesn't have a degree from college, yet gets
paid as much as a certified teacher. Teachers are a
bitter about it.

The labs are down most of the time. Students cannot do
work at home on a diskette and bring it to school and
put the diskette in the machines. Since viruses can
even be passed on, on burned CD's, I am sure that the
same rule applies.

My two sons learned to use Macintoshes at home and now
have jobs because they are Macintosh savvy. They
easily move from a Winduhz computer to a Macintosh.

The school bought computers from a "friend" who
decided to make computers. A quarter of them didn't
last a month. The first excuse was that teachers were
putting the CPU's on the carpet and the static was
zapping motherboard. One excuse after another. I
think they have now switched to Dell.

When I left, I took the only Macintosh in the system
home. Not once did I let the tech look at my computer.
If I wanted it upgraded, I upgraded it myself. I
brought it home with me and here it sits.

Yes, ... I have mentioned to the supt. that both my
kids have jobs in the tech field because of Macs.
They would be both considered geniuses by every
computer using graduate from our school. We graduate
kids who know how to use programs, but don't know how
computer operate. We also have teachers who are
helpless when their computer goes down.

I asked the drama teacher if she was ready for report
cards. She said, no, that her computer was down and
she was going to have to figure grades by hand.

In our school system, the computer situation would get
a D-, and that would be high. Can you imagine spending
30,000 dollars on computers and then not teaching your
teachers how to use them and how to fix them?

I don't feel sorry for them.
