That's my situation too. We're supposed to get DSL around the second or
third quarter of next year, but I'm not holding my breath. My ISDN is
only about 20% as fast as my ADSL line at the office, but it never goes
down. SBC doesn't charge a per minute or per call toll, so I can stay
up almost constantly. My ISP kicks me off every 8 hours, but I have the
router set to immediately redial.

I too live too far way to get DSL, so I have ISDN. Ync.net offers both
64k
($25/mo) and 128k ($50/mo) ISDN. Ameritech is my ISDN line provider.
It's
4 cents a call to the local number for ync.net, added to the regular
monthly line charge (same as a 2nd phone line). The installation was a
little more expensive, and I opetd to get a router modem with a 4 port
hub.
I'm pretty happy with it, as it is very stable. I don't have a lot of
other choices at this point anyway.
