Hi everyone,
I received mixed responses on and off list to my previous question, so I'm
writing again. Tuesday I will be networking a customer's house. They have
a beige G3 connected to a cable modem, and their three other (older) Macs
and their LaserWriter II will connect via localtalk and share the internet
connection via IPNetRouter. So here's the question. They have only one>
phone line. The Macs are on different floors. Can I plug the cables from
the phonenet adapters into the phone jacks? A book called "The Little
Networking Book," and some respondents from this list, lead me to believe
that I can, because apparently localtalk uses different wires than the
regular telephone uses. If I can't plug the localtalk cables into the
phone jacks, I guess they'll just have to have a bunch of cables going up
and down their stairs.
Thanks,
Amber
