I picked up an Asante Ethernet board for my Performa 6214CD, but have been
unable to get it to communicate with the Linksys Etherfast Cable/DSL Router.
The router currently has Win95, iMac, and PowerTower Pro machines attached
and working.

I have tried clean installs of System 7.6, 9.04, and 9.1, followed by
Asante's Ethertalk 5.6.1. In each instance, I configure Appletalk for
Ethernet, then TCP/IP to obtain an address from from a DHCP server. The
settings are identical to the ones on the other Mac machines using the
router.

The PowerTower Pro works fine when connected to the same cable/port that I
am using for the Performa, so I don't think it is a wiring or router
problem.

Asante Tech. Support has had be try reloading the operating system, rebuild
the desktop, trash the relevant preference and MacTCP DNR files, and relaod
the Asante software. I have been told by Asante that it must be a router
problem (but it works fine with other machines) or the Ethernet card. The
next Tech. Support person said it couldn't possibly be the card, but had to
be a corrupted file somewhere. (I have been doing a low level format of the
HD for every install.)

Any ideas?
