Here is my first post to the list. Sorry for the length for such a
simple problem.
Just bought a Laserwriter 4/600PS (Appletalk) printer from a member of
the swaplist. I also purchased along with it a Dayna Etherprint-T
hardware bridge so I could use the new printer with my iBook with MacOS
9.0.4. Installed printer driver in the extensions folder, already had
Laserwriter 8 installed for use with another printer. Used a crossover
cable from iBook to hardware bridge. Used a serial cable (not Appletalk
transcievers and phone cords) to go from the bridge to the printer. The
bridge lights up, so I know there is power to it via the power block.
The bridge also has a light on the back that blinks when the crossover
cable is plugged in. The light stays off when the iBook is shut down or
sleeping and starts blinking again when restarted or upon waking the
iBook.
The problem....printer doesnt show up in the chooser. Unplug the
printer, plug it back in (it has no power switch)....still doesn't show.
Also, the printer works fine with the same drivers, when hooked up to my
Performa 6400 with serial ports.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...David
