Having a central repository for important files makes it a lot easier to
backup those files.  It also makes it easier for people to find the
information they need.

A dedicated AppleShare server is faster than FileSharing on the same
machine.  FileSharing has a limit of 10 simultaneous logins.  Dedicating a
machine as a server makes it more stable.  If a server is PERCEIVED as
reliable people are much more likely to use it.
