Someone asked about networking a 5200 to a box running 10.1 well, on my 5200 I am running OS 9.1 and that makes things easier. I think when my mom gave me this cast-off mac she was still running System 7.5.5... I'm not sure if it had the latest or any version of Open Transport (maybe only MacTCP) but upgrading the OS solved that. It had 40 Mb of RAM but I upped it to 64 Mb and that's made a lot of difference. I had it on my network (cable modem to router) using a PDS ethernet card (after i ripped out the no-good modem) and it was my webserver (slow but ok) and now it's currently at a friend's house as his only computer hooked directly to a cable modem surfing the net....
this wasn't a description of how to netowrk the two machines, a 5200 to an OSX box, cuz without knowing more about the 5200, which OS is it runnin? does it have a NIC? etc./... can't say more. :) -- Mat X *********************************************************** Computer Technician, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design *********************************************************** [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- MacNetwork is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
