OK, the 5200 is currently running 8.1 and it too has a PDS ethernet 
card with the proper driver to make it light up and work with the 
iMac running 9.1.  It's a Farallon Etherwave LC.  What's a NIC?  I do 
know I've heard that before, but I don't remember this late at night. 
It will be a weekend thing to do anyway.  I didn't tell you that 
networking and the jargon is not my thing...of course that's why I 
joined this list and now you know.

BTW, I just saw this posted by Apple: 
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106453.  It's called 
"Mac OS X: How to Set up AppleTalk Routing".  Who knows it could 
prove to be useful...and then again, maybe not.     :>)
