I had a beige G3 (revA) with an internal modem die 3 months after buying the
G3, so this was a warrantee repair. After the part modem being on order and
took 10 days I watched the CompUSA tech (where I bought the G3) replace the
modem. It took all of 10 minutes & that's with him taking time to choose a
music CD and the track.

I signed the service contract & the repair quote was $439! Which included
the cost of the new modem. But still. It's my understanding that the cost
scale works something like a mechanics. If the repair book says it takes 2
hours to replace the front brake calipers, then they charge for that time.

Is this true or was someone being ripped off?
