A similar thing happened when we first got cable internet.  After it was
installed we noticed that we had a lot less channels on TV, down to very
basic cable.  A cable guy came out and said "Oh, someone installed the wrong
filter, if you just take this off you'll get all your channels back."
pointing to a little metal round thing in the cable line going to the TV,
near where the cable comes into the house.
