The reference to a MAC address is not directly related to the Macintosh computer. It has something to do with IP and/or router addresses which are found on both PC and Macintosh computers. Belkin and Asante seem to be the most Macintosh friendly router companies. Netgear offers no support at all. Linksys is somewhere inbetween, but make a good product with tech support that tries very hard.
