We picked up a SpeedStream cable/dsl router for around $30 at Fry's a
few weeks ago. It has 2 10/100 ethernet ports on the front that act
as a hub for the private network. It connects to the modem via the
WAN interface, does ppoe, basic firewall (configurable), and NAT
routing. Connection sharing from Jaguar didn't work on some sites
(machines from the internal network couldn't get to banking sites,
etc), but we've yet to have a problem with the SpeedStream.

Both windows machines, 1 FreeBSD machine, an OS X mac and a 9.2.2 mac
can all share files (using DAVE on the 9.x box), all access the
internet, and since are privately routed, all use 100Mb/s over the
internal network. Connecting the router's ethernet ports to the
uplink port of a hub or switch will allow you to expand your network
in the future.

I'm at work and don't have the model # offhand, so lemme know if you
need it and I can send it to you later this evening.

Not bad for $30.
