>Which would offer better long term speed connections, DSL or Cable

I tried out Verizon's DSL while we have Road Runner(Time/Warner
Cable(AOL)). There should have been a reasonable connection over the
telephone lines. But there isn't. 33 mbps was all it could do. Cable
has topped out at 600+ mbps with the average between 50 to 200
depending on the sending server. They also restricted the email
settings I could use through their connection. I could not send email
with my .mac account only their account. I disconnected the line
after two weeks of testing and trying to improve the connection. This
was partly for fun, to learn more about networking and some to help
our local MUG users who have DSL.

The most consistent reason for slower down loads has been the sending
server, or servers used between us. I am not fond of AOL. Road Runner
service has been fantastic and consistent. I was all for DSL two
years ago. Now, after two years of hands on use: cable is the ticket.
