Try registering at dyndns.org and then download dnsupdate. You need to 
know whether or not your IP is static or Dynamic. Register for the 
appropriate service. (It's free for up to I believe 5 free domain 
names. Most are pretty cool. Mine is htttp://danscott.homeip.net, 
danscott.kicks-ass.net. This service will forward any call for that 
domain name to your external IP. Then setup you router to forward any 
HTTP to you particular computer. One thing, make sure that when you're 
setting up you accounts with dyndns, that you check the enable wildcard 
option otherwise you and all computers on you LAN will be able to see 
you site, but others outside (the Net) wont be able to. This works for 
me, hopefully it will work for you.

Have you tried without the router, just with the computer hooked 
straight to
the DSL modem?  I'm not suggesting it as a permanent solution, just as 
a way
to see if the problem lies in router settings or somewhere else.

Many ISPs have a rule against running web servers from their service, 
could
they be blocking it somehow?
