Why is having a static IP an issue?
I wanted to access my home network. I previously used DynDNS with a nailed up dialup connection and there were times it would not be accessible following a disconnect / reconnect and the delay while the DNS update percolated through the system. I could have used a dynamic address with DSL but I would have had the same problem. I still use DynDNS but with a static IP address.
I also wanted an ISP that permitted servers both my first one and my current one do.
