Thanks to you (and KDaggett) for the timely reponses to my question, but I found my problem... I had the sensitivity setting (or whatever it is called?) - the "high/medium/low" setting - on "high," so evidently as I was on the fringes of the signal area when using wifi, Airport kept searching for a better signal. I set it to "medium" and there is no problem with my Base Station's Wifi signal now... Craig W.
