I'm running 10.3.9 with Firefox 1.5.0.1 and Windows Media Player 9.0.
When I click on the icon to play the classical music station, Firefox
launches Windows Media Player and the music plays. I'm on a DSL
connection and running a hardware firewall. It only blocks in-bound
traffic, not out-bound.
Based on your error message, I'm guessing that the browsers can't find
Windows Media Player. You might try re-installing and see if that helps.

This one works for me using Netscape 7, OS 9.2.2, with
a WMPlayer plug-in. The French sites are in FRENCH! and my
high school French isn't good enough even to navigate the
sites and figure out how to launch anything!
