X-compatible Installer Vise ships
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
June 4th 2002

This latest build is a carbonized version of their long-dominant installer program

MindVision Software has announced the immediate availability of Installer VISE 8.0 for
Mac OS X. The Installer VISE builder is now fully Carbonized to run native on Mac OS X
and Mac OS 9.

Other changes include:
Create Mac OS X application bundles
More Mac OS X install locations available for assigning to archive items.
Updated Gestalts to reference recent OS platforms.
More integrated e-commerce options to extend this app''s integration with the
eSellerate e-commerce system, eSellerate-powered installers can now send the following
information during the purchase process: Tracking ID, Affiliate ID and Coupon ID.

Fully-functional copies of Installer VISE 8.0 are available for download.

Analysis: It''s probable that MindVision hasn''t created a Cocoa installer program
simply because the majority of Mac software coming to market in Carbonized (i.e. runs
under both X and Classic) and vendors need to provide a way for users to install under
either OS.

Q: Does Apple offer an X-only (Cocoa) installer app?
