4D announces WebSTAR v5.2, mail server

The market for Mac-based server hardware and software is getting more competitive
4D, Inc has announced 4D WebSTAR v5.2, a "monumental update" of the suite of Internet
servers for Mac OS X, now with an easy to use, fast Mail server. The WebSTAR v5.2 Mail
Server''s architecture is designed for performance and scalability, with new security
features, including anti-SPAM and anti-virus support. WebSTAR v5.2 is being demo''d at
Macworld Expo (#1342) for the duration of the show.
4D has also announced that an unlimited-mailbox license option is available for all
owners of 4D WebSTAR V who register by August 31, 2002. The unlimited-mailbox license
option is also available for owners of 4D WebSTAR 4.x who upgrade to 4D WebSTAR V and
are registered by October 31, 2002.
"4D WebSTAR 5.2 is an important update, adding to the server suite high performance
email serving with the security features you need today and intuitive ease-of-use,"
said Brendan Coveney, president and CEO, 4D, Inc. "4D WebSTAR v5.2 marks feature
parity with 4D WebSTAR 4.x and offers a dramatic performance advantage to 4D WebSTAR V
on Mac OS X. The new Mail Server in 4D WebSTAR v5.2 is well architected and fast,
while secure and easy to administer, even for delegating administrative authority."
4D WebSTAR v5.2 will ship in September, free to users of 4D WebSTAR V. Upgrades are
available at $199 for current registered users of WebSTAR v4.x, and $299 for current
registered users of WebSTAR v3.x. Cross-grades are available to Mac OS X Server users
for $299. Other cross-grades and academic discounts are available by calling the 4D''s
