X-bytes: Let the Jaguar upgrade parade begin
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac

X.2 is a big deal, but perhaps the bigger deal is getting all of your apps to bark
Jingle Bells in harmony under Apple''s uber OS
Yes, the cat is indeed out of the bag and on the prowl. But for those who have made
the leap already or will soon do so, perhaps the bigger worry is updating their apps
for Jaguar compatibility. Here''s a short list of updates -- call them Jaguar''s
kittens -- specific to X.2:
Apple has released QuickTime Streaming Server 4.1.1, which brings enhancements to Mac
OS X Server 10.2 and remote operation of the QuickTime Broadcaster.
Apple has released (and since pulled) Apple Remote Desktop Client 1.1, which provides
X.2-specific enhancements. It also offers support for French, German and Japanese
language systems. This update must be used in conjunction with Apple Remote Desktop
Administrator 1.1.
Keyspan has released Keyspan USB adapter 1.4b9 for the company''s USB to serial
adapters, and Keyspan SX Pro 1.1b3 for its serial port expansion card. Both updates
provide X.2 compatibility.
Sonnet X Tune-Up 1.2.5 enables the L2 cache on the company''s Encore and MAXpowr
cards. The new release supports Mac OS X 10.2 and includes Crescendo/PCI G4 800 MHz/1M
processor upgrade support.
Channel Storm, the world leader in live video production and broadcasting software,
today announced the release of Live Channel Pro 1.4.1. The new version includes Jaguar
support, improved performance, multi-language support, MPEG-4 video streaming and
several bug fixes.
Griffin has released PowerMate software for Mac OS X v1.1.2. This latest driver for
its programmable audio/video USB controller offers complete compatibility with X.2,
adds both mouse and scroll functions, includes a sensitivity adjustment, as well as a
new gaming mode.
