Spanned Desktop Capability for Radeon iBooks
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
October 28th 2002

Extended second monitor capabilities for your iceBook.

O'Grady's PowerPage reports on Klaus Rutemller's extended desktop hack, that permits
the current Radeon-equipped iBooks to have true monitor spanning, just like the
TiBook. This now works in both OS X and OS 9.

Klaus has developed an Open Firmware script which enables extended desktop support.
Previously, Klaus had figured out a way to do this by swapping ROM files, but this
worked only with OS 9.

Klaus also cautions users not to attempt this on Rage Pro iBooks, or any 15" LCD iMac
or eMac, as you may damage the Mac. YMMV and you do so at your own risk.

You'll need to boot into Open Firmware to do this. Detailed instructions are at
Klaus's site.
