Apple primps .Mac address feature
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
January 3rd 2003
Subscribers will be able to store, access all of their contact info using Apple's
online service
Apple will be making a new service -- .Mac Address Book -- available on Jan 7,
according to a posting on the .Mac site. According to Apple's spin, the online address
book will work with iSync -- Apple's just burnished application for address books and
calendars.
The pith of this announcement is that .Mac subscribers will be able to access all of
their key contact information, including addresses and phone numbers from a single
source.
"Enjoy access to your key contact information anywhere," states the .Mac site
enthusiastically. "Your online .Mac Address Book will soon work with iSync so you can
have all your key contact information, including addresses and phone numbers up to
date. A great feature when you're on the road."
Look for this pony to be trotted out during his Steveness' morning keynote.
Editor's note: The golden rule that explains away 30-percent margins on Jurassic
hardware and specifically the $100 annual charge for .Mac is "it just works." .Mac
must hit this standard to maintain let alone improve its appeal.
