iCal 1.0.1, iSync 1.0 released
By ron carlson, Insanely Great Mac
January 2nd 2003
Over a million copies of iCal have been distributed, crows the mothership
Apple has announced the immediate availability of iCal 1.0.1, an update to its
calendar program, and the release of iSync 1.0, Apple's "breakthrough" synchronization
software.
According to a mothership PR, "Since the introduction of iCal in September, more than
1 million copies of iCal have been distributed and more than 200,000 calendars have
been published online."
"Within just a few months, iCal and iSync have become desktop essentials for thousands
of Mac users who want to better organize the personal information on their Mac with
the devices they carry with them most," said Sina Tamaddon, senior vice president,
applications.
iSync 1.0 works seamlessly with Jaguar's Address Book and iCal to synchronize contacts
and calendars between Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones, PalmOS devices, the iPod and
other Macs using .Mac.
Pricing & Availability
A .Mac account is required for Mac to Mac synchronization and a list of
iSync-compatible devices is available here. Both applications require Mac OS X version
10.2.3.
These latest revs of iCal and iSync are available for download -- here.
Editor's note: That "iCal and iSync have become desktop essentials for thousands of
Mac users" is not in doubt. That Apple can maintain their .Mac user base with regular
outages like the one that struck yesterday is another matter entirely.
