iMac takes silver in 'Nikkei Design' awards

The Japanese magazine, celebrating its 15th anniversary, picked the consumer desktop
for its novelty
Nikkei Asia Biz Tech reports that Nikkei Design, a sister publication, has named
Apple's iMac as the silver medal winner in the 2002 Nikkei BP Design Awards.
Honda's Fit earned the award's first gold medal. Although, the popular small-sized car
ranked second in the ballot's cast by the magazine's readers, it won the top position
at the final review by the selection committee. The selection committee said it
appreciated the car maker's attitude toward creation of a vehicle of uncompromising
quality for a lower price.
According to Asia Biz Tech, the iMac was awarded the silver medal for its "novelty,"
which is hardly surprising given the mainstream press' misconceptions about Apple and
its products.
