Rumor: Adobe to Bury OS 9
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
January 27th 2003
OS 9, pre-Jaguar users to be left behind?
Nick de Plume at ThinkSecret reports that Adobe will drop OS 9 support when it
releases Photoshop 8.0 expected in Q4 2003.
Currently, Photoshop 7.0 runs in both OS X and OS 9, as so a large number of Adobe's
other applications, such as InDesign and Acrobat. The article states, however, that
Illustrator may retain OS 9 support, but Acrobat is slated to go X-only.
However, Think Secret speculates that Adobe is making the move in line with other
major developers, such as Microsoft, which develops its Mac Office suite purely for OS
X now.
To run the new versions of the Adobe apps, you will also have to upgrade to Jaguar, if
you haven't already. A growing number of applications are now demanding OS 10.2.
