That's a clever idea! Unfortunately on my system, it returns nothing.

I did notice something else:

$ defaults read
2010-04-13 06:13:11.250 defaults[2117:39] Preference plist was NOT a dictionary.
. . .

Is there a preferences plist or something that defaults reads first?
