Still agitated over the loss of functionality of the VPN, I turned on mobile me
for two of my macs and made
sure that p-m-p was turned on in my AEBS ( and turned on sharing the
attached usb drive) and hied myself down to the closest mall and
plopped down in a Hastings Book Store with free wifi.

Booting the macbook air showed the finder windows Shared sections contained
references
to the 'AirDisk' attached to the AEBS and the two macs that I had
enabled with MobileMe.

My first try was to mount the disk drive on the AEBS and that succeeded.

Next try was to try and mount the two machines shown in the finder panels.

This met with failure...IKE tries to negotiate but fails early on and
eventually times out...

I then went over to BW3 for lunch and tried their public hotspot with
the same results.

I noticed that if I toggled MobileMe on/off on the MBA that I got a brief flash
stating
that sharing would not work because PNP was not enabled in the router.

Does this mean that in order to :
   1) My 'remote' machine needs to be connected with a PNP enabled router *and*
   2) My 'target' machine (on my home network) needs to be connected with a PNP
router (it is).

If yes does this mean that Back to My Mac has very limited usability because
PNP is not in common use at hot spots?

Tain't clear to me why I can mount the disk attached to the AEBS but cannot
access the volumes on the mobile me enabled macs.

I am sorta fearful of opening the ssh port on the home network...there
are far too many clever people out there...

Any suggestions on how I can reach my home network?
