Can't help there . . .never tried putting a web site on it. > For filesharing/portable homes I go to the FIle Sharing and select “Users” > and check “Make available for home directories over AFP.” > > When I login to another Mac on the LAN, I see nothing about putting home on > the server. Haven't tried Lion Server . . .but with SL Server you have to do a couple of things in the right order. IIRC . . .first is to go onto the server and install/configure Open Directory. Next, create the appropriate username on the server in OD. Next, go to the client and in the Users Pref pane click Network Account Server and then fill in the hostname info. Next you need to turn your local non portable home directory account on the client into the same one on the server . . .can't remember all the details for that but it's well explained in the documentation (at least for SL server it was). Essentially to use portable homedirs you have to use the same userid on all clients and as the network account in OD on the server. Then you log in on the client and you'll get the network account if you're on the network at home and a locally cached copy of the homedir . . .the homedir syncs back from/to the server when you log in/out. If away from home it just logs in locally and then resyncs when you get back home. I can't remember if the sync actually occurs real time or just at login/out . . .but you can control to some extent what and when it syncs. The downside of syncing more and more often is than bandwidth available for other purposes goes down. ----------------------------------------------- There are only three kinds of stress; your basic nuclear stress, cooking stress, and A$$hole stress.
